Ideas To Help You Bounce Back After A Failure
Failure is among those things everyone has in common – such as putting our pants on one leg at a time. It is a human experience. A few individuals handle the experience well, others not so well. What is the secret? How do some individuals bounce back so successfully following failure?
#1 They don’t take the failure personally. Failure isn’t a personal attack or even a sign of any type of character flaw. There’s a clich saying something along the lines of “failure indicates you tried.” People who are actively pursuing goals and hopes are unsuccessful frequently and they perceive it as part of the process. Rather than feeling unworthy or like a failure, they reevaluate their strategy and try again.
When you encounter failure rather than feeling badly regarding yourself, feel good regarding the fact that you tried, and try again.
#2 They use the experience for a learning tool. Failure takes place, right? Why don’t you gain knowledge from the experience. Analyze what went wrong and why? What can you change or do differently next time? How could you use your failure to achieve success?
#3 Sometimes we fail for a reason. Maybe our heart really was not into the effort. Maybe a limiting belief stopped us from achieving success. And it sometimes wasn’t the right opportunity. Usually whenever we are unsuccessful there’s a reason. Look around and evaluate why. Search for new opportunities and encounters that could bring success.
#4 Be grateful for the experience. Gratitude is a strong emotion. Feeling gratitude for the failure and the experience can help you move forward with resolve and enthusiasm. Sometimes writing or journaling your thoughts in a positive manner helps you embrace failure as a positive experience instead of a negative one.
#5 Understand it happens to everyone and do not hesitate to request help or advice. Among the great things about failure is it is an equalizer. Know that the most powerful people in the world, the most famous people have failed thousands of times. When you fail rather than internalizing it and struggling again and again, ask for assistance and guidance.
#6 Accept your inner child. Remember as a child and running together with your friend? Occasionally you would fall right? What would you do? You would leap back up, not even really think about the fall and go back to running, right? Children possess a knack for centering on the fun and never letting the failures or falls stop them. Do as the song says, “pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start all over again.” If you like what you’re working on, you won’t even offer a failure a second thought.
#7 Laugh. All of us make some mistakes and people who are able to laugh at themselves and their mistakes overcome them much faster than those who cannot.
Failure is part of life. Accept it as openly as you do success. Enjoy it, learn from it, and welcome it as a lesson and an opportunity to grow.
